Walk them through the process of a routine dental appointment; you can say that they’re getting their teeth cleaned, counted, and examined. And always speak with enthusiasm and excitement!
Infants and younger children will likely want a parent to accompany them in the operatory. If your child prefers, you can even hold them in your lap throughout their appointment. Once they get more comfortable at our offices, they may want to be on their own for their exam and cleaning. We leave that decision to you and your child. The whole point is for you both to feel comfortable. Discuss it with your child beforehand, and just let us know what you’d like to do when you check in.
