Timber Kids Dentistry was a proud sponsor of the 69th annual Pear Blossom Festival in April! An important event for the entire Rogue Valley, the festival promotes strong family values, community involvement, and continued education for young women.
A Long History
The Pear Blossom Festival has a long history in the Medford community. What was once a small town parade composed of just 20 children's wagons has turned into quite the showcase, with more than 5,000 annual participants! The Festival has also evolved from parade to spring fair - offering events like a baby contest, Junior Royalty Pageant, Senior Royalty Scholarship Pageant, the Run, a Street Fair, Golf Tournament, Corn Hole Tournament, Pear-A-Fare, and the Smudge Pot Stroll.
Perhaps one of the most notable events of the festival is the scholarship awards given to local high school girls. Since 1991, the festival has sought to support girls' education by giving them an extra leg up as they graduate high school and move on to college. According to the Pear Blossom committee, these outstanding young ladies are judged on school leadership skills, academic achievement, community involvement, an interview with judges, writing and presenting an essay and answering impromptu questions on stage during the annual Pageant.
Community Support
Many of the patients, staff, and families of Timber Kids Dentistry take part in this yearly event, and it was a blast to be a part of and support the community in this way! This festival has been a staple in southern Oregon since 1954, and our hope is to continue to be a part of the legacy for years to come.
