For the last 70 years, the community of Medford has celebrated the arrival of Spring with a festival and parade. What once began as a small celebration has grown into quite the extravaganza - bringing in thousands of people from all over the area! Today, the festival boasts not only a parade, but a scholarship pageant for high school girls, golf tournament, bike race, fun run, street fair, and local booths.
Timber Kids Dentistry and the Community
Timber Kids Dentistry has locations in Ashland, Grants Pass, Bend, and of course, Medford. As part of the community, it is our privilege to participate in the local events and to help support the attractions and festivities that draw so many to the Rogue Valley every year. This year, and years past, our TKD team set up a booth and gave away lots of fun goodies during the Pear Blossom Festival. It may have been a bit chilly - but the fun was not deterred! More than 30,000 spectators came to enjoy the parade and activities - an incredible boost to our community and a proud day for all who call Medford home.
The History of the Pear Blossom Festival
In 1954, representatives of several Medford groups (including the Fruit Grower’s League, Chamber of Commerce, Merchants Association, American Legion and the school district) met to initiate an event during the spring blossom season. They decided to have a children’s’ parade. A five-year-old, Miss Blossom, was chosen to reign over the 10 floats. You can read more about the history by heading over to their website.
Be sure to join Timber Kids Dentistry next year at the 71st Annual Pear Blossom Festival!
